CBYRA MEMBER SERVICES

Race Administration

CBYRA provides race administration services and organization for Member Clubs, Classes, and Racers. These are done through CBYRA sponsored Race Management Seminars, Judges Workshops, and other programs.

CBYRA Race Management Seminars

For over 25 years, CBYRA has sponsored race management seminars to educate and update race committee volunteers on the Bay with subjects ranging from changes in racing rules, on the water practices, and race administration approaches. Running races is a complex process where CBYRA can help by bringing speakers who can make the complexities understandable. In 2020, CBYRA shifted to a virtual winter series covering different topics and speakers. But whether learning from past miscues, new techniques, or spirited discussions; thanks to the efforts of volunteers and participants, the CBYRA Webinars and Race Management Seminars continue to raise the bar on good race management on the Chesapeake Bay.

Judge Seminars

CBYRA supports local protest committees through sponsorship of periodic judges’ seminars. These seminars are intended for those persons already active in judging who desire to discuss issues and approaches faced by the protest committee. The seminar also allows newer judges to get involved in the “give and take” associated with discussions of rules, interpretations, and decisions.

Sail Number Assignment

Over 40 years ago, US SAILING (then the NAYRU) authorized CBYRA to administer (assign and record) sail numbers for US SAILING. As opposed to one-design classes that have a sail number usually associated with a hull number, the US SAILING sail numbers are typically found on Handicap and Cruising One-Design boats.
