Sail Number Assignment

One of the many benefits of being a CBYRA member is the direct access we provide to US Sailing. Over 40 years ago, US Sailing authorized CBYRA to administer, assign and record sail numbers for US Sailing. As opposed to one-design classes that have a sail number usually associated with a hull number, the US Sailing sail numbers are typically found on Handicap and Cruising One-Design boats. CBYRA assigned sail numbers are normally five numbers, with the second number being “3” or X3XXX (for example, 63252). These assigned sail numbers are associated with a specific boat and cannot be transferred to a new or different boat. All assigned sail numbers must comply with any relevant class rules and the Racing Rules of Sailing (speak with your sailmaker for details).

Please note: Specific number requests will need to be researched and that may cause a delay. Please indicate specific number requests in the comment section of the registration form.

The cost for Sail Number Assignment is $125.  CBYRA members receive a $25 discount.
