CBYRA Sanctioning Process for One Design Classes
CBYRA defines a One Design Class as racing sailboats maintaining a viable class organization, including Class Rules, ensuring strict compliance with regard to hulls, sails, rigging and equipment so as to permit fair competition among boats without handicap.
A One Design class that meets such characteristics will be deemed a prospective class for review and acceptance by the One Design Committee and CBYRA.
Any prospective class that desires to become a part of the One Design Division shall submit to the CBYRA One Design Committee a written request that must include:
- Include the number of boats within the CBYRA area, data on the number and location of builders, and recent growth history of the class.
- Be accompanied by applications for or proof of CBYRA membership from at least ten class members.
- Submit a racing schedule that is adequate to permit participation in the High Point trophy competition.
- A delegate to serve on the One Design Committee
Classes that satisfy the above requirements, and are approved by the One Design Committee and CBYRA Executive Committee will be awarded sanctioned status and their races will be included on the One Design schedule.
In order for a class to retain its sanctioned status in any one year a class will, at least, have either:
- Seven (7) skippers as CBYRA members in the previous year, or
- Seven (7) skippers shall have paid CBYRA dues for the current year.
