High Point Trophy Competition

Participation and Qualifiers

Classes meeting the following minimum levels of participation and qualification will earn CBYRA High Point awards:

Bonus Point Rule

Unless a class has elected not to award “Bonus Points”, bonus points based on the length of the course for longer events, will be earned by the competitors who finish without disqualification as follows (events less than 4.0 miles are not counted for High Point purposes):

  1. Less than 25 miles = 0 points
  2. 25 miles and up = 10 points

CBYRA COD Classes may choose to create their own unique Bonus Point Rule, which will take effect after notification of the COD Scorer and CBYRA prior to March 1 of the racing year.

Canceled Races and Class Qualifiers

In an event canceled by a race committee, on the water before the start, any competitor, who has submitted a valid entry and entry fee and is present on the starting line, ready to race, will be credited toward their Classes’ average number of starters.

Throw Out and Discarded Races

One (1) event for every six (6) events raced may be a throw-out with a maximum of three (3) throw-outs. One (1) DSQ may be included in the races to be thrown out. However, a non-excludable disqualification (i.e., either a DGM under RRS 69.1(b)(2) or DNE under RRS 90.3(b) ) shall not be discarded for purposes of High Point calculations.

High Point Scoring Formula

The COD Recorder will compute the scores of the CBYRA Class Champion in each Class with the following formula in order to determine the CBYRA COD Division Champion without weight being unduly given to any Class because of large or small numbers of competitors in the Class:

TP = Total Points Earned for the Year

MP = Total Maximum Points possible had the boat/owner won every event in which recorded

PP = Participation Points (30)

Overall COD Division Champion – J.F. Healy Trophy

The CBYRA Class Champion who receives the highest score in accordance with the following formula and has competed in a minimum of eight (8) events will be designated as the CBYRA COD Division Champion and shall be recommended for the CBYRA Corinthian Division Champion Award provided that the Class has met the other criteria as stated by CBYRA for that award. If the CBYRA Class Champion has used the option of discarding a race in determining Class Standing, then that same race shall be discarded when computing the CBYRA Championship Score for the Division. Scoring for the J.F. Healy Trophy shall be based on all boats racing for each class in CBYRA qualifying events.

J.F. Healy Trophy Formula

TP = Total Points Earned

BP = Bonus Points Earned
