ONE DESIGN HIGH POINT ADMINISTRATION

Class Requirements
Only a CBYRA sanctioned One-Design class is eligible for High Point Trophy awards that shall be awarded based on the following minimum levels of participation and qualifications:
| Average Number of Boats in Event | Number of Qualifiers | Number of Awards | ||
| 3 | + | 3 | = | One |
| 5 | + | 5 | = | Two |
| 7 | + | 7 | = | Three |
| 10 | + | 10 | = | Four |
| 12 | + | 12 | = | Five |
High Point Scoring
Only CBYRA sanctioned events, as reflected in the CBYRA One-Design schedule will count for High Point scoring. Any event in which fewer than three (3) Skippers are scored as competitors or that has no finishers in any of its races will not be scored in High Point competition.
Multi-class starts are not considered to be One-Design races and shall not be scored for High Point purposes. However, Junior Division and One Design Division competitors in the same class boat may be started simultaneously even though scored separately.
Each skipper shall be scored individually and is not limited to sailing the same hull or with the same sail number with any sanctioned class. The person who signed the race entry form is considered the skipper for that event. Syndicates or other multiple names, except for registered High Point teams, shall not be recognized for High Point scoring by the scorer.

High Point Award Calculation
Records of points earned are kept by skipper’s name, and not by hull or sail number, as follows:
- Two (2) points for each event in which scored as a competitor, plus
- One (1) point for each boat beaten or tied with (in case of unbreakable ties) in the final standings of the event.
- Should the host club submit ties in the final standings for any sanctioned event, the Recorder shall attempt to break such ties in accordance with RRS Appendix A before assigning points earned toward High Point Trophy awards.
- A bonus factor of 1.25 will be used to multiply the High Point score of each skipper for participation in more than one CBYRA area .
- After competing in eight (8) regattas, the competitor’s worst score will be discounted.
- The formula for determining winners in each class is:
| High Point Score | Total “Points Earned” for Year x Bonus Factor | |||
| = | Total “Points Earned” had Skipper won every event in which scored as competitor | + | Total number of competitors in class for Year | |
| 10 | ||||
Overall One Design Champion
The Champion of the One Design Division shall be that class High Point Champion with the highest High Point score for the season.
Individual Requirements
- Only an individual skipper is eligible for a High Point Trophy award, unless the boat is sailed by a member of a registered One-Design High Point team.
- There may be only two (2) members on any One-Design High Point team.
- Further, eligibility for participation in a One-Design High Point team is:
- Limited to relatives (spouses, siblings, parent/child) or bona fide co-owners of a boat;
- Available only when each team member is either a family or active member of CBYRA; and
- Not available for single-hand classes.
Team Requirements
- Individuals wishing to form a One-Design High Point team shall do so by registering with the CBYRA office as a team.
- Upon registration each team shall be issued, without charge, a CBYRA number that shall be the sole basis upon which the team may be scored.
- Any member of a team using his or her individual membership number will be scored as an individual. In the absence of a membership number, each skipper will be presumed to be entering as an individual and not on behalf of a team.
As used in the remainder of these rules and regulations, the term “Skipper” refers to an individual skipper or member of a registered One-Design High Point team.
Qualifying for a High Point Trophy in any Class
To qualify for a High Point Trophy award in any class requires:
- Each skipper must be a member of his or her regional class organization (Class, Fleet or other);
- The skipper shall have been recorded as competing in not less than four events; and
- Only the skipper may steer the boat throughout each race, except for short periods of time or during emergencies when the skipper may be busy elsewhere on the boat.
- Members of a team may not alternate steering the boat during a race or series unless that is permitted by Class Rules.
